The VIVI Cap thermal case keeps insulin and GLP-1 medications within a safe temperature range thanks to its dual-layer insulation. One of these layers uses technology originally developed for spacecraft construction.

How does the VIVI Cap thermal case keep insulin and GLP-1 medications within a safe temperature range?

  • The outer insulation layer of the VIVI Cap case consists of two thin layers of stainless steel, with the space between them filled with an ultra-high vacuum. This prevents heat transfer from the environment into the interior of the case.

  • The inner insulation layer contains a phase-change material (PCM*) with a melting temperature of 28°C. When this temperature is exceeded, the material changes its physical state and melts, absorbing heat energy from the surroundings.
    This process is reversible—the case is regenerative. To regenerate the VIVI Cap case, it does not need to be placed in a refrigerator. It regenerates automatically at temperatures below 26°C within less than 6 hours. Placing the case in a refrigerator can, of course, shorten the regeneration time.

  • Thanks to the integrated monitoring system—a temperature sensor connected to an intuitive indicator—the user can be confident that insulin is stored within a safe temperature range.

  • The intuitive indicator displays a green or red light:

    • Green – insulin or GLP-1 medication in the pen is below 29°C and safely stored

    • Red – indicates that the temperature of the insulin exceeds 29°C

*PCM – Phase-Change Material capable of absorbing or releasing sufficient energy during a phase transition to provide heating or cooling.
**The PCM melting temperature (28°C) in the VIVI Cap thermal case was selected to be below the safe upper temperature limit for insulin.

The protective ring and transparent protective cover are used to insulate the pen inside the VIVI Cap case. Either option can be used according to preference. The transparent protective cover is mainly used to protect the pen during transport in a pocket, handbag, or backpack, while the protective ring is typically used at home.
